By joining us on this 5-day, 4-night trip, you will be supporting an incredibly important inititaves supporting the refugee crisis on Lesvos Island. .
One NGO, Hope and Peace Center is a wonderful community center outside of Moria Refugee Camp that serves as a safe haven for women and children to play and relax. We can't overstate how important this center is for the hundreds, sometimes thousands, of people that visit - a happy break from incredibly difficult circumstances.
Your contribution and time spent at the center will be impactful and sustainable, benefiting the island and the community long after your return home.
Throughout this trip, you'll be immersed in Lesvos culture - wandering through small villages, spending time with local business and restaurant owners and eating many of the local favorites.
We'll also visit the lifevest graveyard, sit in community with refugees and locals alike, and spend time meeting and learning about the many NGOs making a positive impact on the island.
If you'd like to mix in a little more chill, you'll be free to separate from the group at any time. Lesvos is safe and easy to get around, with plenty of beaches and cafes to enjoy.
Lesvos is a Greek island in the northern Aegean Sea, just off the coast of Turkey, famous for its clear blue waters and green hills.
You'll find those hills dotted with ancient olive trees (there are over 11 million on the island!) and beautiful stone homes capped with red roofs.
Living in those homes are some of the kindest people we've ever met. You'll always find them among friends, sipping Greek frappe's in the morning and laughing over Ouzo in the evening.
The island owns a rich history (even by Greek standards). Ancient Roman aqueducts, Byzantine castles and Greek-Orthodox churches are all there for us to explore.
Xander and Zoë are the founders of When We Band Together.
We started this company after volunteering in Lesvos in 2015. We're committed to helping fund impactful initiatives that better the lives of refugees while keeping in mind the local people and the land.
This retreat is a way for us to share what has become an incredibly special place for us and continue to serve our mission. We look forward to sharing this experience and spending time with you!
